Autumn/Winter 09/10 Trends

Topshop

Always a relentless follower of trends Topshop has gone shoulder pads and sparkly sequins galore for their Autumn/Winter 09/10 collections. There is a strong space theme within many of the capsule collections.

H & M

H & M have also taken influence from the space age theme. The T-shirt shown below has represented it in more of a graphic manner.

Celebrity Fashion

David Koma a recently graduated fashion designer has caused a spark in the world of Fashion and Celebrity. After his haute couture was worn by the 'Nation's sweetheart' Cheryl Cole on one of her weekly appearances on the Xfactor, the forward thinking garment was subject to plenty of speculation. Although it was not received well by some, it caused plenty of publicity for the young designer's new and exciting Autumn/Winter 09/10 futuristic collection.Even further publicity for the designer came around when Beyonce Knowles wore a different but similar dress from the same collection to the MTV awards.

High street collaberations

The success of designer collaberations with brands such as H and M are not just for H and M's regular customers. Collaberations are one of the few solutions for retail during the economic downturn. Both the designer and high street store widen their customer market and pleased cutomers can own a 'designer' garment or accessory and dont have to fork out the usual extortionate cost. During the current financial climate more high street and designer collaberations are being done than ever.

After the success of the previous Kate Moss collections Topshop have introduced a new range with Christopher Kane (see jumper above). More example of the Christopher Kane collection below.

Another readily awaited collection is the Jimmy Choo collaboration with H and M appearing in selected stores on on November 14th. Although get there quickly, as an ex-member of staff I can verify that after witnessing the launch of past collaberations, there will be scrabbling to get in the store at 9am and plenty of hair pulling!
